On many cruise ships, inside cabins are smaller than oceanview and balcony cabins. On Carnival Panorama, for instance, most inside cabins measure 185 square feet. That's the same size as the interior area of some oceanview and most balcony cabins on the ship (not including the extra square footage from the balcony). Oceanview cabins on Carnival ships can sometimes be bigger than inside cabins and even bigger than balcony cabins (when comparing their interior space).

When Scenic Ocean View rooms face forwards, the windows will be sloping. The windows in Carnival’s Ocean View rooms are generally pretty large at 4 feet wide by 3 feet high. On Conquest-class and Spirit-class ships they’re a little smaller, but still generous at 3 feet wide by 3 feet high. If you're a frequent cruiser who has sailed the Caribbean multiple times, you might not mind an interior cabin to save up for your next trip. On the other hand, if you're sailing in Alaska, you may enjoy being able to look outside and see the beautiful, picturesque glaciers from the comfort and privacy of your stateroom.

However, they often cost a little bit more than a traditional window-less interior cabin. Scroll over cabin (stateroom) tiles below to click and watch videos. The soothing in-room whirlpool tub will help you stay relaxed after your relaxing spa treatment. And like all suites, a Cloud 9 Spa Suite features VIP check-in, which lets you easily get right up to your amazing stateroom. From an old college friend gathering to a ladies-only birthday bash or golfing buddy getaway, cruise ships are the perfect place for group vacations. Whether you have 10 or 20 people in your group, there’s something to do and see even if everyone differs in age, abilities and interests. Select ships also have forward and aft-view balconies that come with more outdoor space and some unique views that port and starboard rooms cannot provide.

Oceanview cabins can have either a rectangular window or a round porthole, which typically do not open. Most balcony cabins have floor-to-ceiling glass doors so you can still see outside even if the weather isn't good. Because balcony cabins have this additional outside space, they cost more money.

However, there are also eight different types of Ocean View rooms available, each with their own unique features. It’s important to note that the number of Ocean View rooms on Carnival cruise ships varies, with the oldest ships tending to have more. Before booking a room, it’s always a good idea to check the deck plans to see its location on the ship. The newest Vista-class and Excel-class Carnival cruise ships that were built since 2016 feature Family Harbor staterooms.

Located at the top of each ship on Deck 17, the complexes have separate living and sleeping areas and the most expansive balconies in the Carnival fleet — all unusual-for-Carnival features. Measuring more than 600 square feet, the balconies also offer a lounging area with a large sunbed and a private outdoor hot tub and shower. Note that on some Carnival ships, specific categories of balcony cabins have larger balconies than most.
Remember that your vacation on Carnival Sunrise features another great one tomorrow. Carnival Dream was at the forefront of a recent wave of amazingly innovative and fun Carnival ships. As the genesis of the Dream class, Carnival Dream set the direction for the ships that followed in her footsteps — first Carnival Magic and then Carnival Breeze. Our cabins were small but offered a lot of storage that made them feel more spacious. Many hotels we've checked into have stopped offering daily cleaning since the coronavirus pandemic began, but we enjoyed a clean bathroom and fresh towels every day on the Carnival Legend. Every stateroom has amenities (including your dedicated room steward) that rival land-locked five-star hotels.
First, you probably will be assigned one of the remaining staterooms that are left prior to departure that other guests deemed "less desirable." Surprisingly, inside cabins can often sleep up to four guests with two beds that pull down from the upper wall to form bunkbeds with the twins below. However, floor space could be tight with four people moving about the small space at the same time. Both also have the same standard amenities including TVs, hair dryers and safes, and in some cases coffee makers and minifridges (this varies by cruise line). Bathrooms in both cabin types vary, but generally feature a shower, sink and toilet and limited shelf space. With more space for stretching out indoors, plus a large balcony for kicking back outdoors, try an Ocean Suite to experience private, luxurious relaxation.
And you'll get more of them, too, with floor-to-ceiling windows providing plenty of looking-glass for gazing at the natural wonders of the sea... A Cloud 9 Spa Suite is the ultimate in both stateroom and spa accommodations. There's room for you and your things — with a large room and balcony — and a walk-in closet.
Carnival's newer ships have relatively few such cabins, as generally cabins that face outwards now are built with balconies. The takeaway here is that you'll have a tougher time locking down a balcony cabin on an older Carnival ship than on a newer vessel. If you're planning a cruise on one of the line's older vessels and a balcony cabin is a must, you'll want to book early to make sure you get one.
